Documented Life     An Autodocumentary

I remember nothing very big about 1966, but the pictures below indicate that I played with my brother and with our dog Tak and that we took a vacation on the seashore.

This all seems true, and the few details outlined below cling to this fragile framework.

Above: Playing with our dog Tak (whose name means "thanks" in Swedish). What a good dog!

Left: My hand is on Evon's shoulder.

The pictures below reflect a summer 1966 vacation on the North Carolina coast.

I remember the orange-yellow handle of that bow that I'm holding in a visceral way. It glowed in the sun like a psychedelic flashback. I also remember the plants that covered the sand behind us, and how they clung to life on the shifting sand.

Above and Below: Miles, Evon Gianna and Paul on a summer vacation, probably on North Carolina coast.

Above: This is probably my seven year old birthday party, which took place several months before its November 1966 processing date, in August 1966.

My seven year old birthday party in the brick walled kitchen at our Bivens Street house, in Durham, North Carolina is pictured left.

I remember that my mother got out the chess set so that we would be "doing something interesting" in the photo.

And all these years later, there we sit doing something interesting, namely, pretending to be doing something interesting.

That's more interesting than chess, don't you think?
