Documented Life     An Autodocumentary

That's my foot. I'm being artistic.

I spent that winter, spring and summer of 1982 in Portland, Oregon unrecorded by photographs, to the best of my knowledge, including a complete lack of photographs from my college graduation.

It was in late summer of 1982 I packed my bags and headed to Boston for a year.

Jon and Ann helped me get settled and helped me out hugely, until they (justifiably!) got tired of me and kicked me out of their apartment. The road to adulthood is hard!

Above: This is the house in Allston Massachusetts, where I lived in parts of 1982 and 1983, photographed in 2000.

In these pictures I am hanging out on the back porch of that house in Allston, Massachusetts in 1982 or 1983 with Jon and Graham (Linda) after college was fading into the past.

I lived in a group house (pictured above) in Allston, Massachusetts, down by the railroad tracks, with a number of other people. I wonder where Joanna Stark (a law student at the time) and David Nieberg (from Florida?) are now? Call me when you find this! I wish I had their pictures too.

I worked that 1982-1983 year as a computer programmer in Lexington. I had an incredibly long comute by bus, three busses, to get to that job.

I discovered recently that I had distant ancestors who resided in the Lexington area. Apparently I was walking on their bones without knowing it.

The pictures above are from spring 1983 rather than 1982, but they are part of the 12 month 1982-1983 time period during which I lived in Allston. To make the narrative flow of this autodocumentary work, I'm devoting one page to the 1982-1983 "academic" year, and calling that page 1982, even though the pictures are actually from the summer of 1983. May the Lord of Documentation forgive me. I certainly forgive myself.

Should I call Boston a Home?
